Self-Boarding E-Gates Transform Travel

We've all been there, standing in long security lines at the airport. But thanks to some new technology, this process may become a lot faster.
The 1TSA announced it's 2teaming up with security 3screening company CLEAR to 4roll out what's called 5biometric e-gates.
"This is the 6wave of the future."
Clint Henderson, managing editor of The Points Guy, got a 7firsthand look at how these 8futuristic systems work during the testing phase.
This is video of him going through the e-gate, which will be free for passengers. The machine uses 9facial recognition technology to verify your identity.
"It will identify you with a scan and 10verify your 11identification. It'll pull up your boarding pass."
This means travelers will no longer stop at the TSA 12podium and will instead go straight to physical screening after their identity is confirmed at the gate.
"I'm 13all for it because it speeds up airports so much."
They'll debut at airports in Atlanta, D.C., and Seattle this month.
They're already installed at airports in the San Francisco Bay Area, Oklahoma City, and North Carolina.
Some critics are concerned about privacy, but Henderson says he's not worried.
"They're literally just comparing a picture of your face to the document they have on file, and then all that data is 14dumped."
Right now, you will still have the option to go through the old security line; it just may take longer.

이로써 여행객들은 TSA 직원이 있는 확인대에서 멈추지 않고, 게이트에서 신원이 확인된 뒤 곧바로 보안 검색대로 이동할 수 있게 됩니다.
“저는 이 시스템에 찬성합니다. 공항 절차가 훨씬 빨라지기 때문입니다.”
이 시스템은 이번 달 애틀랜타, 워싱턴 D.C., 시애틀 공항에서 처음 도입됩니다.
샌프란시스코 베이 지역, 오클라호마, 노스캐롤라이나 일부 공항에는 이미 설치가 완료되었습니다.
일부에서는 개인정보 보호 문제를 우려하지만, 헨더슨은 걱정하지 않는다고 밝혔습니다.
“단순히 얼굴 사진을 기록된 문서와 대조할 뿐이며, 모든 데이터는 즉시 삭제됩니다.”
현재는 기존 보안 검색대를 여전히 이용할 수 있지만, 그 경우 시간이 더 오래 걸릴 수 있습니다.
