Marc Stewart: The baking 4bustle has begun at this bagel bakery. but this isn't New York city. This is Beijing, China. you could say the city's 5booming with bagels in cafes, on phone delivery apps, and on social media.
Xi Xi, Customer: Healthy, good looking and it's also a new trend.
Marc Stewart: This is a traditional Chinese bun and like a bagel, it's 6made of flour and water. But bagels cost 10 to 20 times more 7on average, and people 8are willing to pay for it. One of the newest stores, Bagel Bugel, opened in Beijing just a few months ago.

마크 스튜어트: 이 베이글 가게에서는 본격적인 베이킹 전쟁이 시작됐습니다. 하지만 여긴 뉴욕이 아닙니다. 바로 중국 베이징이에요. 카페, 배달 앱, SNS에서 베이글 인기가 폭발하고 있다고 할 수 있죠.

마크 스튜어트: 이건 전통적인 중국식 찐빵입니다. 베이글과 마찬가지로 밀가루와 물로 만들어지죠. 하지만 베이글은 평균적으로 이 찐빵보다 10배에서 20배 더 비쌉니다. 그럼에도 사람들은 기꺼이 그 값을 지불합니다. 가장 최근에 문을 연 베이글 가게 중 하나인 ‘베이글 부겔(Bagel Bugel)’은 불과 몇 달 전 베이징에 오픈했습니다.
