Those scams can be anywhere: email, text messages, even while scrolling social media.

"Unfortunately, scammers can follow us just like 3legitimate marketers. They can track our 4cookies, see where we're going, see what we're searching for, and then you'll see an ad 5pop up for something that you searched for maybe an hour ago."

Some of the top scams to be 6looking out for this year, according to experts, include those package non-delivery alerts, texts from scammers 7pretending to be shipping companies hoping you'll click that link, fake charities asking for a donation, gift card exchange or 8giveawayschemes, and those fake or 9misleading social media products.

"We see a lot of websites pop up that have the same look and feel as a legitimate retailer, but maybe one of the letters in the 10URL are off."

There are ways you can protect yourself, your finances, and your data by making sure the business is 11reputable, 12strengthening passwords, and by avoiding those questionable links in text or emails.

"If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is. If someone's offering it for a quarter of the price, half the price, it definitely 13vet the company that is offering that because, again, it's likely a scam."
