Jeanne Moos, CNN Correspondent: You may not think of octopuses as lovable, but this is the face of a kid seeing his pet octopus for the first time. Nine-year-old Cal Clifford cried with joy.
Cal Clifford: You didn't have to do this.
Jeanne Moos: When his parents gave him the tank, the octopus itself was 1delivered in a plastic bag to this Oklahoma family. They named it Terrence.
Cal Clifford: Terrance loves to welcome us every time we visit her. Hi!
Jeanne Moos: As in hi five, but with eight 2tentacles. Within weeks, Cal's dad Cameron says...
Cameron Clifford, Cal’s father: We found out that he was a she.
Jeanne Moos: And Terrence, now Terry, started acting 3weird, laying eggs. But no one imagined they'd been 4fertilized.
Cameron Clifford: The 5uh-oh moment was definitely when the first one hatched.
Jeanne Moos:6 Hatched right in dad's hand as he 7examined an egg, Cal got emotional. Getting a first look at the 8hatchlings, suddenly one octopus had become many. 50 babies and each had to be cared for in a 9separate container.
Cameron Clifford: The babies will actually 10cannibalize each other.
Jeanne Moos: The baby's got names like J.C. and his 11boo, sea-yonce. The family learned that octopuses make for expensive pets. 12Leaks in the tank system required vacuuming carpets and 13relaying 14ruined floors. It was all 15documented on TikTok.
“I wish my son's favorite animal had been a hamster.”
Almost half of the baby octopuses survived, but Terry has died, 16buried in the yard. Usually the mom dies after 17laying her eggs. The babies are 18destined for educational institutions. As for Cal, he's so into octopuses he even 19dressed up like one for Halloween. No wonder he was 20overwhelmed when they gave him his first tank.

잔 무스: 아기 문어들은 제이씨와 그의 연인의 이름을 따서 시욘세라는 이름을 갖게 되었습니다. 이 가족은 문어를 애완동물로 기르는데 돈이 많이 든다는 사실도 알게 되었습니다. 탱크 시스템에 누수가 생기면 카펫을 진공청소기로 청소하고 망가진 바닥을 교체해야 했습니다. 이 모든 과정이 틱톡에 기록되었습니다.

아기 문어의 거의 절반은 살아 남았지만 테리는 죽었고 마당에 묻혔습니다. 보통 어미는 알을 낳은 후 죽습니다. 아기 문어들은 교육 기관으로 보내질 예정입니다. 칼은 문어를 너무 좋아해서 할로윈에 문어처럼 분장을 하기도 했어요. 첫 번째 수조를 받았을 때 그가 감격했던 것도 너무 당연한 일입니다.
